The How:

Several months ago, we formed a group of over 20 young people from the local community to organize a Young People Summit planning committee. After much organizing, we held our initial planning committee meeting on November 7, 2024. Our committee consisted of Young People from FSCJ, UNF, EWU, JU, St Johns, and UF (some students are high school/college duel enroll); Riverside High, Ed White High, Baldwin High, KIPP High, Ribault High, Andrew Jackson High, and Atlantic Coast High; and Stanton Preparatory school.  For the planning committee we considered, High School students who were duel enrolled, taking college courses, ROTC, AP, STEM, employed interning, etc.; College students  and others who were civically and community engaged, interested in Government, policy, law, military, STEM, robotics, technology, the arts, etc.; and recently graduated college students  who were entry level in their careers; and other ambitious young people. Lastly there were adult leaders who assisted along the way and provided encouragement.

The Who:

Target Summit Audience: Our target is at least 150 young people participating in the summit.

The summit recruitment goal is at least 150 attendees who are of ages 16-21 (with exceptions). For the most part, students who are highly motivated with serious ambitions. Students who fall outside of the age range will be considered and encouraged to apply.  There are volunteer opportunities as well.
