City seal next to the words City of Jacksonville Budget story

Infrastructure

Ensuring that our roadways and infrastructure is safe for all of our citizens helps ensure that people can get where they need to go safely.

In FY25, there has been $62 million set aside just for critical infrastructure needs such as road construction, drainage improvements and pedestrian friendly initiatives. With $21 million focused on our drainage systems to ensure a safer environment.

Downtown Riverfront/Resiliency

Our Downtown Riverfront is a cornerstone of Jacksonville’s identity. Keeping this area updated and well-maintained ensures that Downtown Jacksonville remains a vibrant and thriving destination for generations to come.

To help keep our riverfront bustling a total of $14.3 million has been allocated for the Metropolitan Park Marina Fire Station, Museum, and Dock for FY25. This focus promises an improved riverfront for today and future generations.

Parks & Libraries

Places where our community can gather to learn, play, and socialize are essential for fostering an environment where people of all generations can thrive. Providing these spaces will help our community flourish and succeed.

The City plans to invest $24 million in improving parks and pools across 14 facilities. Additionally, $4.2 million is allocated for renovations at the libraries for FY25.

City Venues

Investing in local venues and supporting emerging artists is crucial for fostering a vibrant and diverse entertainment scene. By doing so, we can ensure that the cultural landscape remains dynamic and inclusive.

The City has allocated $25.1 million for renovations at the Ritz Theater, 121 Financial Ballpark, Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena, and the Performing Arts Center. These funds will be used to maintain and preserve these venues over a five-year period.

Public Safety

Safety is a top priority for our citizens, as no one should ever feel unsafe in their City. The people of Jacksonville should have the assurance that when they are in need of help, it won't be a question of if assistance will arrive, but rather how soon it will be there.

The City is reinforcing security and public safety measures Citywide. $28 million is being allocated for the construction of new fire stations, while $138,119 will be used for enhanced security measures at the Courthouse, Lonnie Miller Park, Friendship Fountain, and Riverside Skate Park. Additionally, the City is adding 40 new police officers to the force to reinforce security and public safety measures.

Health

It's crucial that we continue to prioritize the health of those around us. Whenever we have the opportunity to assist those in need, we should take action. By providing funding for essential health institutions, the City is actively addressing this challenge.

In FY25, the City is dedicating $56 million to UF Health to support essential services for vulnerable citizens. $38 million of this will be allocated to ensure that UF Health can continue to deliver high-quality care in FY25. $24 million will be distributed annually after.

Affordable Housing & Homelessness

Even though Jacksonville is making progress, many people still struggle to afford housing or even lack a place to call home. We cannot turn a blind eye to those in need. It is essential that we address this issue with compassion and action, implementing comprehensive solutions that ensure support for our community.

The City is dedicated to assisting those in need, with $1 million dollars to support homeless outreach. With JFRD, the City has launched a comprehensive strategy to provide support for those requiring assistance.

Stadium of the Future

We’re excited about this historic agreement that will keep the Jaguars in Jacksonville for decades to come.

Estimates suggest the economic impact of the renovated stadium to the Jacksonville community will total $26 billion, with an estimated $2.4 billion in one-time economic impact during construction.

Economic Development

By investing in our economic growth, we can reveal the true beauty and vibrancy that Jacksonville has to offer. This will not only enhance our City but also create more job opportunities for those who call it home.

To achieve this, the Jacksonville Small and Emerging Businesses (JSEB) program is dedicated to helping small businesses grow and thrive. The City is working diligently to make Jacksonville the Small Business Capital of the Southeast.

Community Funding

The City has allocated $7 million for the Cultural Council and $7.2 million for Public Service Grants. These funds will be used to enrich lives through the arts and ensure that essential services continue to reach the most vulnerable members of our community.

A New Day

Each of these topics is a high priority for the City and represents a crucial piece of the puzzle. By addressing these areas with dedication and innovation, we can build a stronger community. Together, we can create a Jacksonville where every individual feels valued and where future generations can thrive. It's time to bring A New Day to the City of Jacksonville.
