The park is being closed to allow for construction on the LaSalle Street Drainage Project. This project will alleviate flooding on LaSalle Street and in nearby neighborhoods and includes a new pump station, improvements to the stormwater distribution system and the outfall and is expected to be complete in 2025.

There are two parks nearby that provide similar public access to the St. Johns River:

• Riverfront Park - 901 Landon Avenue, 32207
