Mayor's Hispanic Leadership Awards

Mayor Alvin Brown and the Mayor’s Hispanic American Advisory Board (MHAAB) will present the 2014 Hispanic Leadership Awards on Monday, October 13 as a part of “Es Mi Vida” (It’s My Life) Hispanic Heritage Month. The event will highlight individuals who have a proven track record of serving the Jacksonville community.
The awards will recognize a cross-section of people from a range of categories and industries to include: Government, Business, Education, Health, Faith-Based, Non-Profit, Music, Art & Culture, Visionary Leader (ages 21 – 40) and Lifetime Achievement.

Nominations are being accepted Thursday, June 19 through Friday, August 1. Residents are encouraged to nominate someone they know of Hispanic descent who has gone above and beyond for Northeast Florida.. About MHAAB


The Mayor’s Hispanic American Advisory Board works to promote Jacksonville’s city services to the growing Hispanic community while advising the mayor and his staff about specific needs within the community. The eleven members of the board are appointed by the mayor to effectively recognize the concerns and desires of the Hispanic community in Jacksonville. The purpose of the board is to provide a means by which the city may obtain information, guidance and on-going comprehensive studies relating to its citizens of Hispanic descent.
