Committee Duties: The Mayor appoints 6 members; the Cultural Council board elects 9 members. The Cultural Council is designated as the local arts agency for the City for the purpose of determining and authorizing the allocation of the Cultural Service Grant and Capital Grant Appropriation designated in the annual budget ordinance or in supplemental appropriation ordinances as being appropriated for eligible recipients. In addition, the Cultural Council manages the City’s Art in Public Places program and collection (as governed by Chapter 118, Part 6 and Chapter 126, Part 9, respectively, of the Ordinance Code of the City of Jacksonville, Florida). The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville is a separate, non-profit organization.
Meeting Date: The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville is a separate, non-profit organization. The board meets quarterly on the fourth Thursday of the month from 4-6 p.m. in the Jessie Ball duPont Building. Meeting times and locations are subject to change.
