Ethics Commission Hotline Subcommittee

Notice is hereby given that the Hotline Subcommittee of the Jacksonville Ethics Commission will meet Friday, February 25, 2014, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) in Conference Room 2C, Second Floor City Hall, St. James Building. The purpose of the meeting is to develop a proposal for promoting the Ethics Hotline program.
All interested parties are invited to attend. Please mark your calendars accordingly. Please see the Ethics Commission webpage at http://www.coj.net/departments/ethics-commission/notices,-agendas---minutes-(1).aspx for a history of proceedings of previous meetings and the agenda for this meeting.
 
Following the Hotline Subcommittee meeting, there will be an Executive Session “shade” meeting (pursuant to Section 112.324, Florida Statutes) to discuss a pending case.*
 
*112.324(2)(a) thru (c), F.S., provide in pertinent part: “The complaint and records relating to the complaint or to any preliminary investigation held by…a Commission on Ethics and Public Trust established by any…municipality…are confidential and exempt from the provisions of s. 119.07(1) and s. 24(a), Art. I of the State Constitution. Any proceeding conducted by…a Commission on Ethics and Public Trust, …pursuant to a complaint or preliminary investigation, is exempt from the provisions of s. 286.011, s 24(b), Art. I of the State Constitution, and s. 120.525. The exemptions in paragraphs (a) and (b) apply until the complaint is dismissed as legally insufficient, until the alleged violator requests in writing that such records and proceedings be made public, or until the…Commission…determines, based on such investigation, whether probable cause exists to believe that a violation has occurred.”
