Crash Information
Since 2004, the
Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)
has prioritized resources and technical assistance to states and cities that exhibit the highest pedestrian and bicycle fatalities and/or fatality rates. Through this
Focused Approach to Safety
, the state of Florida was designated as a Focus State, and the City of Jacksonville was designated a Focus City. In 2021, these designations were adjusted, as detailed in a
USDOT memo
, to include Focus States and Focus MPO/Regions. Currently, Florida remains a Focus State, and Jacksonville is located within a designated Focus MPO/Region (North Florida Transportation Planning Organization region).
