Multimillion Dollar Fire Station Grand Opening

City Council Installation Ceremony is Tonight

Mayor Curry appoints Stephanie Burch as Deputy Chief Administrative Officer

Today Mayor Curry announces that Stephanie Burch, current Director of the Neighborhoods Department, will become Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Jacksonville, effective July 1. Burch will work closely with Brian Hughes, who was selected as Chief Administrative Officer earlier this year.

City Introduces Innovative Technology to Reduce Algae Blooms

The City’s Environmental Quality Division (EQD) is launching a stormwater pond study as part of its continuous efforts to improve the city’s water quality. Jacksonville will be one of the first cities in Florida to use Microbe-Lift, a blend of specially formulated strains of bacteria manufactured for use by landscape, irrigation and pond professionals, with the purpose of significantly reducing the amount of total Nitrogen in stormwater ponds.

City's Animal Shelter Receives Funding from PetSmart Charities to Help People and Pets Stay Together

Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) wants to keep pets with their owners using a $50,000 grant from PetSmart Charities®, the leading funder of animal welfare in North America. The money will expand ACPS’ Pet Safety Net Program, a pet retention initiative that provides resources — including supplies, animal behavioral training, funds for medical care and housing solutions — to residents in an effort to decrease the number of animals surrendered to the shelter.
