The City of Jacksonville invites residents and visitors to pay tribute to our military, past and present, at the annual Veterans Day Parade, presented by the City of Jacksonville and the Law Offices of Ron Sholes, P.A. The parade will be on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11, beginning at TIAA Bank Field. Step off will be at 11:01 a.m.

“Jacksonville is a proud military town that greatly honors and appreciates the service and sacrifices of our military and veterans,” said Mayor Lenny Curry. “Every year, our city hosts one of the largest Veterans Day parades in the southeast as a demonstration of the pride and appreciation we have for those who serve and have served. I encourage all citizens to join us in this tradition to acknowledge and honor our service members.”
 
The parade will feature Mayor Lenny Curry, Sheriff Mike Williams, World War II veteran and former Prisoner of War John Connelly as the parade Grand Marshal and three of Jacksonville’s oldest veterans; Kathleen Smith of the Women’s Army Corps at age 101; Sollie Mitchell of the U.S. Army at age 101; and William Tomka of the U.S. Army at age 101. In addition, it will include senior military officials, active-duty and retired military units, veterans groups, local high school marching bands, military organization, decorative floats, giant balloons, JROTC units and more.

The route for the parade will begin at TIAA Bank Field at Lot J. It will proceed down Bay Street to Newnan Street, follow to Independent Street (which turns into Water Street) and will end at the lots on Lee Street near the Prime Osborn Convention Center.

Parade watchers are encouraged to show their support by wearing red, white and blue, as well as by waving flags, banners and signs. The parade can be viewed from multiple places along Bay Street, from A. Philip Randolph to Newnan Street, and along Waters and Independent Drive.
Street closures for the parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, and include the following streets.

• Bay Street from A. Phillip Randolph Blvd. to Newnan Street
• Newnan Street from Bay Street to Independent Street
• Independent/Water Streets from Newnan Street to Lee Street
• Lee Street from Water Street to Adams Street
• Bay Street from Lee Street to the I-10 Entrance ramp on Bay Street

Gator Bowl Boulevard/Bay Street from A. Phillip Randolph to Adams Street will close at 6 a.m.
Liberty and Market streets will remain open to access and exit the Berkman Plaza and the Hyatt Regency Riverfront Hotel.
