The Tributary Program, as the name implies, focuses on the monitoring of water quality in the tributaries of the St. Johns River in Jacksonville.
Approximatelyy 100 sites along Jacksonville tributuaries are monitored quarterly for a variety of parameters. The tributaries provide significant littoral zonehabitat for a variety of species and are extremely important to the ecology of the St. Johns River estuary system. Pollution impacts in the tributaries can be pronounced, since they have a smaller dilution potential than larger water bodies. Two important water quality parameters measured by AWQS at the tributary monitoring sites are dissolved oxygen and fecal coliform bacteria.For more information contact:
