When it comes to the annual football game the city of Jacksonville has hosted for 82 consecutive years, there’s more than just yards gained and points scored on the gridiron. The citizens of Jacksonville benefit greatly from the economic wins of Florida-Georgia weekend. This year’s game, hosted Oct. 31, generated an economic impact of $35 million – a more than $2 million increase from 2014.

The City of Jacksonville has announced that Dr. Sampson Davis, M.D., a highly skilled emergency medicine physician, New York Times best-selling author, and frequent medical expert on TODAY and CNN, will serve as keynote speaker at the 29th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast, presented by Florida Blue. The breakfast, held to celebrate the life, legacy and service of Dr. King, will be held Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at the Prime Osborn III Convention Center.

City Earns Another Win From London Visit

An international recruiting services firm filed plans this week to open a global service center in Jacksonville – a project finalized last month on a city economic development mission to London. Resource Solutions filed plans with the Jacksonville City Council that will add 75 skilled jobs to the city. The project is subject to approval of state and local incentives.

Since assuming office, Mayor Lenny Curry has identified priorities key to Jacksonville’s success. Among them are increased and improved economic development. 2015-2016 Household Hazardous Waste and E-Waste Mobile Collection Events

Continuing a commitment to address blight and poor neighborhood conditions, the mayor and his administration support and promote initiatives and events that encourage appropriate disposal of waste and other debris throughout Jacksonville. One of these many efforts is through the Solid Waste Division, which is hosting 10 household hazardous waste (HHW) and electronic waste (e-waste) mobile collection events throughout the city.

JFRD Veteran to Serve as City's Fire Marshal
