The City of Jacksonville’s Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) and Jacksonville Humane Society are hosting a free adoption weekend, sponsored by PetSmart Charities. Citizens looking for a new furry companion are encouraged to visit one of four locations between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Perkins&Will Wins Riverfront Plaza (FKA The Landing) Design Competition

After a seven-month process, a tremendous amount of public engagement and three outstanding designs, the Perkins&Will design team was named winner of the Riverfront Plaza (FKA The Landing) Design Competition. The City of Jacksonville (COJ) Professional Services Evaluation Committee (PSEC) announced the winner today during its Special PSEC meeting. Perkins&Will scored the highest among the final three teams, followed closely by Agency Landscape + Planning and OLIN, respectfully. Contract negotiation for final design will begin immediately with the park slated to begin construction in about one year.

Today, Mayor Lenny Curry on behalf of the City of Jacksonville and in partnership with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Jacksonville Field Office announced the 2021 recipients of the inaugural COJ/HUD Public-Philanthropic Initiative Award. This award recognizes excellence in public-philanthropic partnerships that have both transformed the relationship between sectors and led to measurable benefits for low-and moderate-income individuals and families in Jacksonville. As the first city chosen to locally replicate the HUD Secretary’s Award for Public-Philanthropic Partnerships, Jacksonville is excited to honor three local partnerships that have made significant impact in our community.

JaxParks Summer Camp Starts Today

JaxParks makes summertime the best time for youth with a bevy of camp experiences packed with sports, arts, adventure and friends. Now through July, youth ages 6 – 12 can participate in one or more of three two-week sessions available. Keep your kids active and engaged from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. with a variety of activities. Join JaxParks for Summer Night Lights

The lights are on after dark at several community centers throughout Jacksonville. Every Friday and Saturday, now through July 31, teens ages 13 - 17 can visit 5 JaxParks locations from 6 - 10 p.m. for free music, dancing, movies, basketball, painting, game truck and more.
