CITY TO HOST ANNUAL VETREPRENEUR SUMMIT

The Military Affairs and Veterans Department, in partnership with Florida State College at Jacksonville and the Florida Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of North Florida, will host the 8th Annual Vetrepreneur (a current or future veteran entrepreneur and/or small business owner) Summit on Friday, December 6, 2024.

JaxParks invites the community to participate in programming in and around Downtown and beyond

The City of Jacksonville’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department (JaxParks) is excited to share that there is no shortage of FREE happenings in and around downtown Jacksonville. There are fitness programs, live jazz and DJ nights, silent discos, photo walks, art in the park, Latin dance classes, movie nights, and more. There is literally something for everyone!

While the classes are free to attend, those interested in attending should visit the registration portal to check availability at jaxparks.coj.net.

CITY OF JACKSONVILLE LIGHTS THE RIVER WITH ANNUAL LIGHT BOAT PARADE

The City of Jacksonville is set to light up the St. Johns River once again with the annual Jacksonville Light Boat Parade on November 30, 2024. A fleet of decorated boats, ranging from small vessels to grand yachts, will take to the water at 6:30 p.m., followed by an awe-inspiring fireworks finale that includes the beloved "waterfalls" effect off both the Main Street and Acosta Bridges. This year, we’re adding even more excitement with new activities along the Southbank, including activations at Friendship Fountain.

Jacksonville is Ranked #5 for U.S. Cities Attracting College Graduates

Jacksonville was recently ranked fifth for U.S. cities with the most “brain gain” by USA Today. Cities with brain gain are those that are successfully attracting and retaining college-educated individuals. Communities with a net loss of college graduates experience “brain drain.”

The Jacksonville-Duval County Agriculture Council and Duval County Farm Bureau’s 67th Annual Farm City Luncheon

National Farm City Week is being celebrated in Jacksonville from November 17-23, 2024, and the Jacksonville-Duval County Agricultural Council, in collaboration with the Duval County Farm Bureau, holds an annual Luncheon in recognition of this national observance to salute all agricultural industries. Agriculture in Duval County is responsible for over 120,000 jobs and has a direct and indirect economic impact of $10.2 billion dollars annually.
