The City of Jacksonville’s Military Affairs and Veterans Department invites community’s Gold Star Families, veterans, active duty military and patriotic citizens to lay wreaths at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Wall (1145 E. Adams St. – 32202) in honor of Jacksonville’s fallen heroes.
 

Jacksonville to Honor Fallen Heroes with Community Event

The City of Jacksonville’s Military Affairs and Veterans Department invites the community’s Gold Star families, veterans, active duty military and patriotic citizens to lay wreaths to honor Jacksonville’s fallen heroes. Following the posting of the colors at 10 a.m., staff will be present to assist families lay wreaths for their loved ones. Free parking is available in lots M and N.

Join Councilwoman Ju’Coby Pittman, James Weldon Johnson Park and the City of Jacksonville to celebrate the first annual Emancipation Celebration Day, honoring the day Florida ended slavery. The inaugural event will take place on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at James Weldon Johnson Park and will help educate the community on the significance of this historic day.
 

DIA Closes on its First Storefront Façade Grant to Recipient Hatfield & Hatfield, P.A.

The City of Jacksonville Downtown Investment Authority (DIA) closed on its first Storefront Façade Grant agreement to recipient Hatfield & Hatfield, P.A., a local law firm doing business in Downtown since 2016. Grant funds, totaling $7,370, will be used to help preserve the building’s exterior quality and enhance the aesthetics of the building. Improvements include replacing street-facing windows to provide better protection from the elements, removing aging window frames and glazing, and adding protective film to the entrance doors so that they will better match the new-and-improved windows and provide additional security.
