Celebrate Jacksonville's Public Art Week from June 17th through June 23rd with daily events and activities in beautiful Hemming Park, located in the heart of downtown. Join us at lunchtime for hands on arts activities, live music, dance performances and food truck fare; the new Hemming Park Sculpture Garden opens on Thursday, June 20th; there will be free public art tours and a free concert by New Orleans-based funk band Flow Tribe on Saturday, June 22nd. See you in the park!

Global Pro Motocross Event to be Hosted in Jacksonville

MX Sports Pro Racing and NBC Sports selected WW Ranch Motocross Park to host the inaugural US Assure Florida National Presented by Ring Power. The  event on Saturday, June 22, 2019 as part of the 48th season of the world’s most prestigious off-road motorcycle racing series. The event will be televised on NBC Sports.

Free Safety Training for Landlords

New Service Offered to Provide More Opportunities for Veteran Assistance

Every second Tuesday, a veteran service officer representing the City’s Military Affairs and Veterans Department will be at the Charles Webb Wesconnett Regional Library (6887 103rd St. – 32210) from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to answer questions, and share information about veteran-serving programs and organizations.

Cure Violence Initiative Launches in Jacksonville

The Cure Violence health initiative launches in Jacksonville on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Northwest Jacksonville Community Development Corp.’s annual Health and Neighborhoods Day. The program uses a public-health approach that treats violence under the idea that violence is a contagion that can be controlled.

75th Anniversary of D-Day

Today marks the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. On June 6, 1944, more than 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline, to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which, “we will accept nothing less than full victory.” More than 5,000 Ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by day’s end, the Allies gained a foot-hold in Continental Europe. The cost in lives on D-Day was high. More than 9,000 Allied Soldiers were killed or wounded, but their sacrifice allowed more than 100,000 Soldiers to make their way across Europe to defeat Adolf Hitler’s troops.

Free Summer Lunch Program Available at 12 Library Locations

The Duval County Free Summer Lunch Program began on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 12 local Jacksonville Public Library locations. ALL kids up to age 18 can get a FREE meal at participating locations until August 2, 2019.

City's Procurement Division Given "Award of Excellence"

Yesterday evening, Mayor Lenny Curry, Sam Mousa and Chief Kurtis Wilson joined JFRD firefighters at Fire & Rescue Station 1 for dinner. It was a evening of many thank you's - thanks to Mayor Lenny Curry for improvements to the station, thanks to Sam Mousa for his service and thanks to outgoing chief Kurtis Wilson who is retiring after 25 years at Jacksonville Fire and Rescue.
