MEDIA RELEASE Council Member Randy DeFoor urges Decisive Action from StarbucksĀ® to Correct Dangerous Conditions for Drivers and Pedestrians

April 20, 2022
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – CM Randy DeFoor urges quick and decisive action to correct dangerous conditions for drivers and pedestrians at 4265 Roosevelt Blvd.
The drive-thru line at 4265 Roosevelt Blvd frequently wraps the building and spills out onto U.S. Route 17 (US 17) where cars idle while traffic rushes past over 50 miles an hour. Over the last few weeks, Florida Department of Transportation’s Traffic Services Program Engineers completed a thorough review of this location and recommended Starbucks® modify their internal circulation to address the danger. The report outlined clear recommendations and tracked multiple instances where drivers or pedestrians along Roosevelt Ave could be in danger.

“We have the report and we have the neighborhood testimony (over 400 neighbors). What we need now is decisive action from Starbucks® to eliminate this danger. “Honorable Randy DeFoor, District 14.

"I would like to thank the engineers and staff at Florida Department of Transportation for completing their traffic analysis. We appreciate our Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office for installing “Heavy Traffic Ahead” signboards and assistance from State Attorney Melissa Nelson. The safety of the public is our priority “Honorable Randy DeFoor, District 14.
