City Council President Daniel Davis and the Recreation and Community Services Department today held a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for Westridge Park.

This one-acre park features a playground, a picnic shelter with tables and grills, a walking path and a multi-use open field area. The cost of design, amenities and landscaping totaled $152,574 and was supported by tree mitigation and bond funds. Located just off Normandy Road near Caleb Park, the property was purchased for $100,000 in 2005.

'Pocket parks like this improve the quality of life for our citizens and I look forward to creating more in the future,' said President Davis.

Free and open to the public, the neighborhood festival featured inflatables and activities for children. The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) served free hotdogs and provided the opportunity for families to obtain fingerprint identification records. In addition, Dr. Amir Wind, whose practice is located in the area, hosted a blood drive in conjunction with The Blood Alliance.
