Jacksonville City Council President Daniel Davis and Council Member Glorious Johnson today announced that the public will now be able to view the incoming email received by the City Council as a body. Additionally, the incoming email boxes for both Council President Davis and Council Member Johnson will be available for viewing individually. The access provided will be 'view only' for the incoming email received during the previous two week period.
'Our constituents have asked for a more open government and this ability to review the email received by the City Council is an example of my personal commitment to an open door policy during my Presidency,' said Council President Davis. Council Member Glorious Johnson also expressed her commitment to public access stating, 'We as elected officials must do everything in our power to ensure the public has complete confidence that we are performing our duties as Council Members in an open and fair manner.'
This feature was added at the direction of City Council Director/Council Secretary Cheryl L. Brown in response to requests from both Council President Davis and Council Member Johnson. Council staff worked closely with staff from the City's Information Technology Department to implement the project.
