Notice is hereby given that a Special Meeting of the Council will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022, in the Council Chamber, 1st Floor, City Hall, St. James Building, located at 117 West Duval Street, Jacksonville, Florida at 3:00 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to address the Redistricting Federal Court Order.

 

LITIGATION SHADE MEETING NOTICE | Regarding Redistricting

Pursuant to Section 286.011(8), Florida Statutes, and as requested by the Office of General Counsel and announced at a Special Meeting of the City Council, I am setting a litigation shade meeting of the Council to consider settlement negotiations and strategy sessions related to litigation expenditures as to the following case:
  • Jacksonville Branch of the NAACP, et. al, v. City of Jacksonville, et. al., Case No. 3:22-cv-493-MMH-LLL, U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida
The shade meeting will be conducted on Thursday, December 22, 2022, immediately following the Special Meeting of the City Council at 3:00 p.m., in the Council Offices, Suite 425, Conference Room A, Fourth Floor, City Hall, 117 West Duval Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32202. The shade meeting will conclude no later than 5:00 p.m.

In accordance with Ordinance 2005-361-E, the second Committee week and City Council meeting
in the month of December 2022 are suspended. All meetings: Standing Committee, Special
Committees, Select Committees, Task Force, Board/Commission, and all other Zoom, In-House
or Hybrid Meetings are suspended December 19, 2022 through December 30, 2022. The Jacksonville
City Council meeting cycle will resume with Standing Committee and other meetings on Tuesday,
January 3, 2023. Council Offices will be open to receive constituent in person inquiries, telephone
calls, and emails.

Notice is hereby given that Council Member Brenda Priestly Jackson will host a District 10 Southwest Community Meeting on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Webb Wesconnett Regional Library (6887 103rd Street, Jacksonville, FL 32210). The purpose of this meeting is to provide a forum to discuss District 10 projects, updates and initiatives and any other items noted on the meeting’s agenda.

Notice is hereby given that the City of Jacksonville Downtown Investment Authority (“DIA”) is hosting a hybrid virtual/in-person Lunch & Learn workshop meeting on Monday, December 12th, 2022, from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Lynwood Roberts Room located on the first floor of City Hall and via the Zoom US computer application. The purpose of the meeting is for the DIA staff to provide information to City Council members and Council staff and answer their questions about proposed Ordinance 2022-0871 (authorizing the sale of the Office Parcel and revised redevelopment agreements with Iguana Investments of Florida, LLC for the construction of a hotel, office building and other improvements at Kids Kampus).

Notice is hereby given that the Office of Ethics, Compliance, and Oversight will provide continuing education and annual training to City Council members and other elected officials, and JAA and DIA Board members pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 112.3142. This training will include education on Government Ethics, including financial disclosure filing requirements and process and campaign ethics.
