"Read It Forward Jax" is a reading initiative aimed at raising the literacy rate for students throughout Duval County. The project involves partnerships between the Duval County School Board, the City of Jacksonville and business and community leaders to help teach Jacksonville's children about the importance of reading.

Presented by the City of Jacksonville and Keyboard Connection Pianos & Organs, the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition has been a tradition for more than 20 years. Five finalists, chosen by a selection committee through "blind" judging, will compete for the honor of this award, a cash prize and the chance to perform during the 2011 Jacksonville Jazz Festival.
The City of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra have decided to cancel Starry Nights featuring The Four Tops scheduled for this Saturday, May 21. The decision was made due to low ticket sales leading up to this concert. Tickets will be refunded at their original purchase price.
