Westwood Park is located in southwest Jacksonville, south of 103rd Street in the Oak Hill/Westwood section. The area was formerly part of the Jacksonville Heights Townsite platted in 1909. From 1955 until the consolidation of Jacksonville in 1968, there was a tremendous growth in County-owned recreational facilities. As part of this growth, the developers of the Oak Hill neighborhood sold Duval County the property for use as a park in 1962. The new park contained a basketball court and playground equipment in 1965, and became a City facility following consolidation. In 2005, Westwood Park serves as a small neighborhood playground and park for the area’s residents. A new playground was installed Spring 2023.
