Westside Park is located on the west side of Jacksonville north of Commonwealth Avenue. The park is part of the plat of Solary’s Addition to Jacksonville that was recorded prior to 1900, and resides across from the West Jacksonville Elementary School, which was built in 1929. The City of Jacksonville acquired the park property from twelve different owners in 1962. The Westside Senior Center is located at the park, offering many diverse activities and services for citizens 60 years of age and older, such as weekday lunches, health support services, field trips, and bible study classes. A park improvement project was completed in 2002 that included a new asphalt parking lot, a stormwater retention facility, concrete sidewalks, a new picnic table and grill, and landscaping.
