Westbrook Center and Park is located in west Jacksonville, north of Beaver Street. The park spreads out along both sides of Three-Mile Branch as it flows down the middle of the property. The park’s north portion was included on the plat of Westbrook in 1911 (except for a small acquisition in 2003), and the south section was acquired in five deeds between 1933-37. In 1929, the park contained a one-acre playground with floodlights, small and large swings, a slide, and a clay play-court for basketball and volleyball. The Westbrook Community Center received a major renovation in 1993. Most of the grounds are in a natural state, graced by noble trees, and two bridges provide access across Three-Mile Branch.
