Holiday Hill Elementary School Park is located in southeast Jacksonville, south of Atlantic Boulevard in the Glynlea Park/Holiday Hill community. The property comprised part of a 16,000-acre Spanish land grant made to Francis Richard in 1817 for the purpose of harvesting timber and constructing and operating a water-powered sawmill. Development of the Glynlea and Holiday Hill neighborhoods began in 1948 and 1955 respectively, and the school opened about 1959. The Southside Youth Athletic Association (SYAA), which was established in 1955, uses the park facilities in addition to those at nearby Glynlea Park. The City of Jacksonville and the Duval County School Board have a joint-use agreement for the park.
