City Council Unveils Photograph Exhibit

August 17, 2006

Today, Jacksonville City Council President Michael L. Corrigan, Jr. unveiled a photographic exhibition showcasing various locations within each of the fourteen City Council Districts and the five At-Large Districts. The photos are the work of local photographer Bryant D. Jennings.

During his installation speech, Council President Corrigan spoke of both the 'Talent Within' Jacksonville and the multi-cultural diversity of our community. This photographic exhibition was compiled as a representation of both. The images, from every district in the city, capture Jacksonville's natural beauty, unique architecture and the inspiring public spaces available to both residents and visitors alike.

'These photos wonderfully demonstrate the diverse cultural, spectacular natural surroundings, and impressive public art and architecture found throughout Jacksonville, said Corrigan. 'We are truly blessed to be part of such a beautiful city and I think Bryant's images capture the spirit of Jacksonville and its residents.'

The exhibition includes several of Jacksonville's many cultural facilities, including the Ritz Theatre, the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts, and the Florida Theatre, among others. Also showcased are some of city's recreational opportunities, such as James P. Small Park, Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park, the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, and the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. The area's natural beauty is highlighted in the images of local scenic vistas and some of the impressive public art found in Jacksonville is also displayed.

The photographic exhibition is on display in the Office of the City Council, located in City Hall at 117 W. Duval Street.
