MBUSA Donates $95,000, Volunteers to Renovate Local Park

The park located at Garden City Elementary received a facelift today thanks to a $95,000 grant from Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA). More than 65 employees from the MBUSA Jacksonville Parts Distribution Center, Engineering Services/Quality Evaluation Center, Southern Regional Office and the Learning and Performance Center, volunteered to help spruce up the park by cleaning up, planting trees and landscaping as part of MBUSA’s Giveback program. In addition to fresh landscaping, the funding will also provide new state-of-the-art playground equipment which will be installed next week.

Mayor Identifies Six Community Leaders to Serve on Kids Hope Alliance Board of Directors

Mayor Lenny Curry filed legislation today nominating six community leaders to be appointed as board members for the newly-reformed Kids Hope Alliance (KHA). KHA, which launched in August, was created to strengthen and improve programs and services that meet the critical needs of Jacksonville children. The appointments are pending City Council approval.

Today, Mayor Lenny Curry appointed City of Jacksonville Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Mike Weinstein as Interim Executive Director of the Kids Hope Alliance. While maintaining his duties overseeing the City’s financial operations, Weinstein will oversee the establishment of the newly-reformed organization created to strengthen and improve programs and services that meet the critical needs of Jacksonville children.
