The Mayor’s inaugural CHAMPION Award is awarded to citizens who have exemplified what it means to be advocates for their neighborhoods and the city of Jacksonville. “CHAMPION” stands for Community Heroes & Advocates Making Positive Impacts on Neighborhoods.
Deloris Patterson
Assistant Chief Deloris Patterson, an officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, is being recognized for her exceptional commitment to neighborhoods through her support and promotion of public safety in the Jacksonville community. Throughout her more than 20 years of service with JSO, she has exceeded the call to protect and serve by developing meaningful relationships with community members through volunteerism, mentorship, advocacy and more.
Tracy Grant
Tracy Grant is being recognized for her leadership and commitment to neighborhoods by advocating for the well-being and improved quality of life for citizens in a community that had historically been plagued with unsafe conditions, blight and other challenges. As the president of the Eureka Gardens Tenant Association, Grant went above and beyond to be a voice for her neighborhood. As a devoted advocate for fair and equal housing, she took her fight all the way to Washington, D.C. to be a voice for citizens of this nation.
