Mayor Selects Jacksonville Leaders for JEA Board

Two well-respected and strong Jacksonville leaders have been selected to serve on the JEA Board of Directors. Mayor Lenny Curry recently announced the nominations of Edward E. Burr, GreenPointe Holdings LLC president and CEO, and Warren A. Jones, former city council president.

Coast Guard Inspection

On January 5, 2016, the ferry will begin an inspection and overhaul as periodically required by the United States Coast Guard.  Because the inspection and overhaul will require the ferry to be dry docked, the ferry will be out of service for six weeks.  Normal daily service will continue through January 4th − and we anticipate returning to normal daily service on February 18.  

Mayor Curry to Host Community Conversations to Identify Jacksonville Needs

Fulfilling a commitment to convene citizens in a dialogue about discrimination, Mayor Lenny Curry announced today a series of Community Conversations he is hosting over the next several weeks. The first of three sessions will be held Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. at Florida State College at Jacksonville’s downtown campus, located at 501 W. State St. 

Google Fiber Considering Jacksonville for Ultra High-Speed Internet Access

Today, Mayor Lenny Curry joined Google Fiber representatives for an announcement revealing that if selected, Jacksonville would be one of the first cities in the state of Florida to receive a brand new superfast broadband network.

Jacksonville Hosts Annual Florida-Georgia Rivalry

City Prepares for Gators and Bulldogs Fans

The City of Jacksonville is hosting the annual Florida-Georgia football game on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 3:30 p.m. The University of Florida will take home field against the University of Georgia at EverBank Field. Jacksonville has been home to this historic rivalry since 1933.

Mayor Lenny Curry has identified three area leaders to serve as members on the Jacksonville Port Authority (JPA) and Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) boards of directors. John D. Rood, chairman for The Vestcor Companies, Inc., has been appointed to the JPA. Availity CEO Russ Thomas and Demetree Brothers, Inc. President and CEO J. C. “Jay” Demetree, Jr. have been appointed to the JAA.

Mayor Continues Appointments for City Leadership

Two City of Jacksonville employees are continuing to serve the city following their appointments by Mayor Lenny Curry. Daryl Joseph has been appointed to serve as Director of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and Dave Herrell has been reappointed to the role of Sports and Entertainment Officer.
