The National Weather Service is forecasting severe weather on Tuesday, January 9, including high winds and heavy rains with the potential for hail, localized flooding, and isolated tornadoes.

Mayor Donna Deegan has appointed Charles Griggs to serve as Director of Community Initiatives in the Mayor’s Office, effective Monday, January 8, 2024.

In observance of the New Year’s holiday, the following City government offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, January 1, 2024.

Mayor Donna Deegan announced that the Confederate statues are being removed from Springfield Park today. This memorial was erected during the peak of early 20th century Confederate monument-building, part of a widespread campaign to promote and justify Jim Crow laws in the South and intimidate African Americans.

In observance of Christmas, the following City government offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, December 25 and Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

On November 2, Mayor Donna Deegan, City Councilman Michael Boylan (District 6), Dr. Sunil Joshi, Chief Health Officer for the City of Jacksonville, and Lynn Sherman, Executive Director of Health Programs for the City of Jacksonville,  launched Get Covered Jax!, a public education campaign to help Jacksonville residents without health insurance get covered.

Mayor Donna Deegan, along with Jacksonville City Council Vice President Randy White and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) Chief Keith Powers, announced a diverse executive team, leadership development program, and succession plan for JFRD earlier today.

In observance of Thanksgiving, the following City government offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 23 and 24, 2023.
