Art in the Park Returns for Its 4th Annual Chalk Drawing Competition on March 30th

Art in the Park, Northeast Florida’s only Chalk Drawing competition, returns for a fourth year to Jacksonville. This event is presented by YaYa Productions, Friends of James Weldon Johnson Park, and made possible through a generous grant from the PNC Foundation. Over the years, several illustrious artists joined the competition including Christopher Clark, Elena Ohlander, Roosevelt Watson III, Adrian Rhodes, Grace Bio, Marcus Williams, Jenn Veal, Maiye Elaine, and Tatiana Kitchen. Several talented students from Duval County Public Schools have also competed and produced amazing chalk art. This year’s artist line up will be announced in early March.

Jacksonville is the largest city by population in the U.S. state of Florida, and the largest city by area in the contiguous United States. It is the county seat of Duval County, with which the city government consolidated in 1968. Consolidation gave Jacksonville its great size and placed most of its metropolitan population within the city limits; with an estimated population of 853,382 in 2014, it is the most populous city proper in Florida and the Southeast, and the 12th most populous in the United States.

City of Jacksonville Launching Home Roof Rehabilitation Program

The City of Jacksonville Neighborhoods Department, Housing and Community Development Division, is proud to announce a new Home Roof Rehabilitation Program. The new initiative is funded from the City of Jacksonville General Fund as part of the task force programs recommended by Mayor Donna Deegan’s transition committees and passed by the City Council in December.
