City of Jacksonville Announces Details & Application Process for Small Business Relief Program

The City of Jacksonville will launch the Small Business Relief Program on Monday, June 8, at 9 a.m. to provide support to local businesses impacted by COVID-19. In addition to providing financial assistance for those who have lost revenue due to the pandemic, the program was designed to encourage approved businesses to retain their employees throughout the reopening process.

Jacksonville Enters Phase 2 of Reopening

Mayor Lenny Curry and City leaders briefed and answered questions from the media on Thursday afternoon.

Mayor Curry announced that the City will have a 4th of July fireworks celebration downtown, as well as in other locations around Jacksonville so that citizens can safely watch—socially distanced—from their own communities. We look forward to working with local TV stations to broadcast the fireworks to those who choose to stay at home.

Mayor Curry Coronavirus Update

Mayor Lenny Curry briefed and answered questions from the media via videoconference Wednesday afternoon.

Mayor Curry announced that 5 pools will open on June 8th. Those pools are Julius Guinyard, Oceanway, Woodland Acres, Charles Clark, and the Cecil Aquatic Center. Pool hours will be Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. The Cecil Aquatic Center will be open Monday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please note, that pools that are on Duval County Public School properties will remain closed for the time being. We hope to have access to those facilities sometime in July.

City Announces Schedule to Open Pools and Summer Camps

During a news conference, Mayor Lenny Curry shared plans for opening community pools during the 2020 season. Pools, with the exception of Cecil Aquatic Center, will be open Mondays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and 2 to 6 p.m. on Sundays; the openings will occur in four phases based on staff availability:

Prime Osborn Testing Site Closing as City of Jacksonville Rapidly Expands Testing Around the County

With the rapid expansion of COVID-19 testing availability throughout Duval County, the City of Jacksonville sponsored drive-thru testing site, in partnership with Telescope Health and Baptist Health, will discontinue operations at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. The last day of operation is today, Wednesday, May 20. This was the first public site to offer COVID-19 testing across Greater Northeast Florida. Since that time, dozens of private and public testing facilities have opened across Jacksonville allowing for more than 43,000 individuals in Duval County to be tested for COVID-19.
