The “Lioness Summit for Women in Military Services” is a two-day event designed to “Enlighten, Engage, & Empower” Female military service members and veterans into action with the veteran community. Join Zahara Veterans Network, Inc. the last two days of the “Week of Recognition for Women Veterans” during “Women’s History Month,” March 16-17, 2018.
Day One (1) will provide information and encouragement to veteran attendees and guests. The morning will feature keynote speaker: Command Sgt. Maj. Michele S. Jones, (USA Ret.), to share information on their service, transition experiences, and reflect on the status of the female veteran community. A “State of the Female Veteran” luncheon will review important facts and statistics relevant to female veterans with a focus on the state of Florida.
The afternoon will include a preview of the “Journey to Normal” documentary, which covers the transition experience of female veterans, a panel discussion, musical performance and closing ceremony. Later that evening, Zahara Veterans Network, Inc will host a private reception for participants of its newest initiative, the
Lioness Odyssey Program. The Lioness Odyssey Reception event is “by invitation only” and will provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions about the program and meet potential mentors/mentees.

Day Two (2) is focused on raising awareness about Zahara Veterans Network, Inc., its programs, and celebrating the last day of the “Week of Recognition for Women Veterans” with a 5K Walk.
This will be the first walk in the Northern Florida area where all the proceeds benefit a female veteran nonprofit service organization. The 3.11 mile route will start at Orange Park Town Hall, navigate through the surrounding neighborhoods and conclude at the original starting point. “Let’s Get Loud” and show your support by wearing the organization colors of purple and green. Prizes will awarded to the best dressed walker, best coordinated family and other fun themes. There will be a “Young Lion” one mile and half miler for kids ages 5-12 and a “Cub Crawl” for children under four. Bring out the entire family and enjoy this day of awareness and celebration with female service members and veterans.
