November 4, 2015 - On January 5, 2016, the ferry will begin an inspection and overhaul as periodically required by the United States Coast Guard. Because the inspection and overhaul will require the ferry to be dry docked, the ferry will be out of service for six weeks. Normal daily service will continue through January 4th - and we anticipate returning to normal daily service on February 18.
October 1, 2015 - In conjunction with the 4th Annual Ferry Fest & Inaugural Timucuan Treasure Quest taking place in Mayport Village on Saturday, October 10th, 2015, passage on the St. Johns River Ferry will be FREE of charge all day. July 29, 2014 - In conjunction with the 3rd annual Historic Mayport Village Ferry Fest to be held this Saturday, August 2, 2014, the St. Johns River Ferry Commission voted to waive all fares for the St. Johns River Ferry between the hours of 10:00 am and 6:00 pm on the day of the event. Instead of paying the normal fare, the St. Johns River Ferry Commission is asking riders for a donation of school supplies to fill 150 backpacks which will be given to area children for the upcoming school year.
June 3, 2014 - The St. Johns River Ferry has received an additional $4.97 million to be used toward the replacement of the slip walls at both the Mayport and Fort George landings. The funding consists of a $1 million appropriation in the state's budget (signed by Governor Rick Scott today) and a $3.97 million Passenger Ferry Grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) also announced yesterday.
April 22, 2014 - The Federal Highway Administration has awarded the St. Johns River Ferry a $900,000 grant from the Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP). The grant will be distributed to the ferry in two $450,000 annual payments beginning this fiscal year.
January 10, 2014 - After undergoing Coast Guard-maindated routine maintenance and inspection since December, the St. Johns River Ferry will officially resume regular operating hours on Sunday, Jan. 12. Passage on the ferry all day Sunday will be FREE of charge. A formal welcoming ceremony will kick-of the all-day "Welcome Back Ferry" event.
October 1, 2013 - JaxFerry, a free new mobile application now available for Apple and Android devices, provides up-to-the-minute information about the St. Johns River Ferry to area commuters. The application was developed by the City of Jacksonville’s Information Technologies Division in partnership with the St. Johns River Ferry Commission.
