Multimillion Dollar Fire Station Grand Opening

Furthering the City’s commitment to public safety, Mayor Curry will join City Council members and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department leaders for the grand opening of Fire Station 73, located at Cecil Airport/Commerce Center (5845 Aviation Ave. – 32221), at 9 a.m.

Volunteers Needed for July 5th Beaches Cleanup

The City of Jacksonville and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful are partnering with the Beaches Sea Turtle Patrol for the annual July 5th Beaches Cleanup following the Independence Day holiday.

JaxParks Movie Night - Uncle Drew

City Council Installation Ceremony

Notice is hereby given that the Jacksonville City Council will meet for the purpose of hosting the 2019- 2020 Installation of Council Leadership Ceremony scheduled for 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2019, Jacoby Hall - Auditorium - Times Union Center for Performing Arts located at 300 Water Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32202.  Immediately following the installation ceremony a reception will be held in the Uible located within the Times Union Center for Performing Arts Building.   
 
The event is being held for the 2019-2023 Installation of Members and Officers of the Jacksonville City Council, for Jerry Holland, Property Appraiser for 2019-2023, and for Jim Overton, Tax Collector for 2019-2023.  The Honorable Scott Wilson will be sworn in as President and The Honorable Tommy Hazouri will be sworn in as Vice President for the Jacksonville City Council.  In accordance with Council Rules the positions will become effective July 1, 2019.  (Invited attendees will include the Jacksonville City Council Members, Constitutional Officers, Judges, Duval Delegation, and Congressional Representatives, appointed Board and Commission members of the City of Jacksonville as well as the public at large.) 

Invitations are not required to attend this event and all interested parties are invited to attend.

City Council Installation Ceremony is Tonight

The Jacksonville City Council 2019-2020 officers, Scott Wilson (president) and Tommy Hazouri (vice president), and Council members will be installed during a ceremony at the Times Union Center for Performing Arts (300 Water St. – 32202) at 6 p.m.

Mayor Curry appoints Stephanie Burch as Deputy Chief Administrative Officer

Today Mayor Curry announces that Stephanie Burch, current Director of the Neighborhoods Department, will become Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Jacksonville, effective July 1. Burch will work closely with Brian Hughes, who was selected as Chief Administrative Officer earlier this year.

City Introduces Innovative Technology to Reduce Algae Blooms

The City’s Environmental Quality Division (EQD) is launching a stormwater pond study as part of its continuous efforts to improve the city’s water quality. Jacksonville will be one of the first cities in Florida to use Microbe-Lift, a blend of specially formulated strains of bacteria manufactured for use by landscape, irrigation and pond professionals, with the purpose of significantly reducing the amount of total Nitrogen in stormwater ponds.

Mayor Curry Answers Questions About School Board's Proposed Half-Cent Sales Tax

In this video, Mayor Lenny Curry answers questions about a proposed half-cent sales tax for school maintenance proposed by the Duval County School Board. The proposal is currently under review by the Jacksonvile City Council.
