Welcome to the City of Jacksonville, Military Affairs and Veterans Department (MAVD). We have an amazing and talented team of professionals who are dedicated to providing you with timely and competent services and answers to your questions. We are an advocate for the expansion of military Infrastructure, personnel and jobs within the City of Jacksonville and throughout Northeast Florida. The Department team works closely with military, business, community, and elected leaders at the local, state, and national levels to deliver a compelling message that Jacksonville is the most "Military and Veteran Friendly City in the United States" and that Jacksonville is strategically important ot the security posture of the nation.

National POW/MIA Recognition Day

Join us at the National POW/MIA Memorial & Museum on Saturday, September 21 for several activities, including a program to commemorate and honor the commitment and sacrifices made by our nation's prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action, as well as their families, the arrival of the American Legion Riders7 Bridge Run with special guests, a candlelight ceremony (tentative) as well as other plans being considered.

Harrison Conyers

Harrison Conyers was first appointed by Mayor John Delaney as a Management and Planning Analyst for Community Services in January 1996 and also served as the Deputy Director of Quality Services for the Jacksonville Children’s Commission from 1997 -2005.

As the Director, Military Affairs and Veterans Department, he serves as military liaison to all military commands in Duval County for the City of Jacksonville and the strategic advisor to the Mayor on matters related to the military.
