The 2014 Military Veterans Job and Resource Fair will be held at the Prime Osborn Convention Center on Monday, March 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fair is hosted by Mayor Alvin Brown, the City of Jacksonville, the Military Affairs, Veterans and Disabled Services Department (MAVDS), and the Jacksonville Military Veterans Coalition (JMVC).
The fair is open to all transitioning military, veterans and their families. One hundred companies have signed up to participate. Resource agencies and veteran-services providers will also be available throughout the day to provide information and assistance to veterans and to help them access earned benefits.
The Job and Resource Fair is part of a citywide effort to connect job-seeking veterans with local veteran-friendly employers. As part of this effort, the city has partnered with the JMVC in the
Jobs for Vets web-based initiative, with more than 200 participating local veteran-friendly companies listed on an online tool accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
