The City of Jacksonville’s Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) will host a ribbon cutting to celebrate and dedicate a new outdoor play area made possible by a $10,000 anonymous donation to Friends of Jacksonville Animals (FOJA). FOJA is a nonprofit that works directly with ACPS to benefit shelter animals. The group is gifting the outdoor play area, including the cost of construction, to ACPS.
The outdoor play area will be used by ACPS staff and volunteers to exercise and enrich the lives of dogs as they await adoption or foster care. The new, fenced area includes three separate outdoor spaces located on the west side of the ACPS facility.
The ribbon cutting will be held during ACPS’s & FOJA’s first Saturday of the month adoption event. Residents, animal lovers and volunteers are welcome at both events. After the ribbon cutting, guests are invited to stay and take part in the adoption event, which will feature the Driftwood BBQ food truck, a charity dog wash and yard sale by FOJA, and various vendor and sponsor booths.
