The City of Jacksonville is proud to be a participant in THE PLAYERS Military and Veterans Job Fair, a first-year event at THE PLAYERS Championship, held at THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. This event affords military-friendly companies the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to hiring military personnel transitioning from military service.
“This is a great example of public-private partnership working for the brave men and women who put it all on the line for our safety,” said Mayor Brown. The mayor elevated military affairs to a Cabinet level position to grow Jacksonville’s reputation as the most military-friendly city in the nation.
The City of Jacksonville will host a booth staffed by Human Resource Department personnel actively seeking Veterans to apply for positions with the city. Additionally, the City’s Department of Military Affairs, Veterans and Disabled Services will be present and available to discuss the city’s newest web-based program, “JOBS FOR VETS”, recently launched by Mayor Alvin Brown as part of the Mayor’s commitment to do more for our military and Veteran communities.
Admiral Guillory will be available for media interviews during and after the job fair.
The Military Job Fair at THE PLAYERS will be open to veterans who are seeking employment. All veterans will be admitted free on Monday in order to attend the job fair.
The recognition of military personnel and Veterans will continue on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, with THE PLAYERS’ Military Appreciation Day.
