The shelter can house more than 600 animals at any given moment, which requires a tremendous amount of work to feed, water, clean and walk the animals, not to mention providing the time, love and attention they deserve.
Citizens are encouraged to consider donating time to support our local shelter animals by volunteering. ACPS regularly provides an hourlong orientation for potential volunteers to learn more about the shelter, volunteer qualifications and expectations.
The next orientation will be held Saturday,
10 a.m. at the shelter (2020 Forest St. - 32204). Attending orientation and completing a background screening is required for all volunteers, who are welcome seven days a week, 365 days a year to help improve the lives of local shelter animals. To learn more about volunteering email
