The Jacksonville Sister Cities Association will host an anniversary dinner and program to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of its Sister City relationship with Changwon City, South Korea.

Changwon City, South Korea (formerly known as Masan) is the capital of Gyeongsangnam-do Province on the Southeastern coast of Korea and has a population of almost 1.1 million people. Changwon is the center of South Korea's economy, with 30.6 billion dollars in exports and has one of the largest free trade zone enterprises in the world. Changwon is rising as a major Northeast Asian business hub and hosts the active production and research activities of approximately 80 major Korean companies such as LG, Samsung and Sony. Changwon was declared an Environmental Capital in 2006 by providing its citizens a high quality standard of life through clean water, clean air and the promotion of sustainable urban development. Its Jinhae district is home to both Korean and U.S. naval facilities. Changwon City became Jacksonville’s Sister City in 1983.
