UPDATE #3: IDALIA

As Hurricane Idalia approaches Florida, the City of Jacksonville Emergency Operations Center (EOC) continues to collaborate with local and state agencies as they track and monitor for any potential impacts.

UPDATES

  • A tropical storm warning is currently in effect for Northeast Florida.
  • A specific route will be stationed at Ken Knight Drive and Moncrief, Bus Stop 3991 Starting at 12 PM, Shuttles will run every 30 minutes to the Legends Center, until conditions deteriorate, providing transportation back to the bus stop when the shelter closes.
  • There is an anticipated risk for high rip currents, tropical storm force winds, isolate tornadoes, and the potential for flooding in low-lying neighborhoods along the St. Johns River and Atlantic Coast.
  • Citizens who live in low-lying areas, coastal areas, or manufactured homes are encouraged to consider a plan and seek shelter if needed.
  • All lifeguards will be pulled from Duval County beaches Tuesday, August 29 at 5 PM.
  • Citizens are asked to stay out of the water, off the beaches, and are asked not to walk or drive through any standing water.
  • Starting Tuesday, August 29at 12 PM the following shelters will be open for anyone who needs shelter:
    • The Legends Center - (5130 Soutel Dr.), open for general population and special needs.
    • Chimney Lakes Elementary – (9353 Staples Mill Dr.), open for general population and pet-friendly.
    •  Landmark Middle - (101 Kernan Blvd), open for general population and pet-friendly.
    • Atlantic Coast High - School (9735 R.G. Skinner Pkwy), special needs only.
    • LaVilla School of the Arts - (501 N. Davis St.), specifically for homeless individuals.
    • Oceanway Elementary – (12555 Gillespie Ave.), open for general population.
  • We are working on identifying a 7th shelter for the Baldwin Community
