Retail, manufacturing, technology and more, small businesses exist in ever industry and are truly the backbone of our national and local economies. In 2015, Duval County was home to more than
50,000 small businesses (companies with fewer than 100 employees), an increase from approximately 47,000 small businesses the previous year. Additionally, small businesses in Duval County accounted for
$80.8 billion in sales in 2015 ($79.8 billion - 2014)!
Successful small businesses are transforming Jacksonville’s economy. Business owners and entrepreneurs are exhibiting resilience, intuitiveness and resourcefulness as they navigate this economic landscape. Through financial workshops, management training, bonding workshops, technical assistance and education programs, the City of Jacksonville Small and Emerging Business (JSEB) program continues to play a major role in supporting and helping local small businesses grow.
There are currently 228 enrolled in the JSEB program, and more than $13,862,669 was awarded to JSEB businesses in fiscal year 2016. These local small and emerging businesses have truly leveraged the resources provided by the JSEB program to develop, grow, and become stronger. The City of Jacksonville JSEB program provides high-impact, front-line services designed to facilitate small business growth, job creation and access to capital.
