Colin…Hermine…Julia…north Florida has already seen its share of tropical weather so far this year. September is annually recognized as National Preparedness Month, which serves as a reminder for everyone to prepare now and throughout the year for the types of emergencies that can happen where we live.
Locally, to be JaxReady means that citizens are taking emergency preparedness to the next level and making it a part of their everyday life. Emergencies can occur with little or no notice, and being prepared minimizes the adverse impact on those affected. Jacksonville residents are encouraged to download the JaxReady app to monitor weather threats and plan for evacuation in the event of a natural disaster. The app provides access to current threat levels, weather reports, wildfire updates and up-to-the-minute news feeds for emergency preparedness and evacuation. Additionally, the 2016 JaxReady Emergency Preparedness Guide, which includes tools, tips and resources for residents and businesses to prepare for hurricane season, is available in City offices, community locations and area stores.
