In addition to the JaxHapps mobile app, Special Events launched its new brand, “Jax Happenings,” that includes a refreshed website with enhanced usability, featuring a comprehensive calendar of events in the urban core and throughout the Jacksonville area. On
JaxHappenings.com, visitors can search for events by categories like Business and Technology, Cultural, Entertainment, Family Friendly and Sports. They can also get information about event permits and becoming an event vendor.
“We often receive calls from citizens looking for information on events and activities,” said Tonisha Landry-Gaines, Director of Special Events. “Working to develop the mobile app and website is one of the ways we sought to be responsive.”
The mobile app pulls information directly from the website to provide information on-the-go.
“So many interesting events are happening throughout the Jacksonville area,” said Usha Mohan, CIO and Chief of Information Technologies. “This is a great way for our citizens to have access to them, right at their fingertips. We are excited about adding JaxHapps to our mobile app offerings that improve the quality of life for our citizens and help keep us all connected.”
JaxHapps and
JaxHappenings.com were created in-house by the city’s Information Technologies Division and Office of Special Events at no additional cost to taxpayers.
