Mayor Curry appoints Stephanie Burch as Deputy Chief Administrative Officer

June 27, 2019
Today Mayor Curry announces that Stephanie Burch, current Director of the Neighborhoods Department, will become Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Jacksonville, effective July 1. Burch will work closely with Brian Hughes, who was selected as Chief Administrative Officer earlier this year.
Mayor Curry offered the following statement on Burch’s appointment:

“Without question, Stephanie’s expertise in multiple areas is invaluable to us on a daily basis,” Mayor Curry said. “She has done an exceptional job leading one of the largest departments in the city, a department that my administration reinstated in order to focus on the needs of Jacksonville’s diverse communities. I am confident that Stephanie and Brian will provide exemplary leadership, knowledge and experience to help achieve our vision for the future of the city.”

Incoming CAO Brian Hughes added, “Stephanie is an amazing leader and asset to our team. I am thrilled to have her working with me as we implement the Mayor’s vision over the next four years.”

Since being appointed Director of Neighborhoods Department in November of 2016, Burch has managed Housing and Community Development, Municipal Code Compliance, Environmental Quality, Animal Care and Protective Services, Mosquito Control, Neighborhood Services, 630-City and Consumer Affairs. Burch began her career with the City of Jacksonville in March 2016 as the Chief of Real Estate. Prior to that, she practiced real estate law for several years in the private sector, served as Special Counsel for the Florida Department of Transportation, and was an adjunct professor at Florida Coastal School of Law.

Burch holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University and a Juris Doctor degree from Florida Coastal School of Law.

Bryan Mosier, who is currently the Operations Director of the Neighborhoods Department, will be the acting Director, pending City Council approval of his permanent appointment to that position.
