Following a week’s end of successful collaboration and emergency preparedness efforts resulting from threatening weather conditions produced by Tropical Storm Hermine, Mayor Lenny Curry convened federal, state and local officials to discuss the practices and procedures conducted for the safety of Jacksonville citizens.
“It is always important for us – agencies who are leading our public safety efforts – to get in a room together to have a dialogue about our work and our collective efforts,” said Curry. “We are partners who citizens look to and expect to contribute to their safety…that is not lost on any of us.” These meetings, simulated workshops, and briefings are held throughout the year to assist City and state officials in planning and preparation efforts.
Throughout the year, the City hosts
events and activities that attract thousands of people throughout the region including the Georgia versus Florida (Oct. 29) collegiate football game, Jacksonville Sea & Sky Spectacular (Nov. 5 - 6), TaxSlayer Bowl (Dec. 31) and more.
