Brian Hughes

Mayor Appoints Chief of Staff

Today, Mayor Lenny Curry announced his selection of Brian Hughes to serve as Chief of Staff, effective Jan. 2, 2018.
 
Hughes is an entrepreneur whose business Meteoric Media Strategies has focused on public relations, strategic communications, and brand management for corporate and political clients in Florida and across the nation. Last year, Hughes co-founded Bold City Strategic Partners, a public affairs consultancy based in Jacksonville. In advance of joining the Curry administration, Hughes will fulfill his business and client commitments by month’s end.
 
Before founding Meteoric Media Strategies, Hughes served as a professor at colleges and universities in New York, Oregon and New Jersey. Hughes has also served as a public policy advisor having worked in Washington D.C. for several members of Congress. In Florida, Hughes is recognized for his work with Governor Rick Scott, former chief financial officer Jeff Atwater, Mayor Curry, and numerous other state and local leaders. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in flight operations during the Gulf War as part of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.

From the pension solution to restructuring how we serve Jacksonville’s children with the Kids Hope Alliance, Brian applied his strengths to benefit this great city. I am honored to have him join my administration in a leadership role to help manage this successful team as we continue to accomplish big things.”
 
Hughes holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Catholic University of America and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University.
