Legal and Career Counseling Offered to Local Veterans

The City of Jacksonville's MIlitary Affairs and Veterans Department is hosting legal and career counseling sessions for local veterans on Thursday, May 18 at City Hall, 117 W. Duval St.

Legal Counseling

Dedicated to helping veterans with their legal needs, the City of Jacksonville Military Affairs and Veterans Department and Three Rivers Legal Services will host a free legal consultation for veterans and their families at City Hall (117 W. Duval Street, Suite 120 – 32202) at 9 a.m. Three Rivers Legal Services provides assistance with family law (limited), social security/SSI, discharge review assistance, VA pensions, guardianship for disabled, unfair collections, last will and testament, and various other civil legal services. Free Career Counseling

The transition from military service to civilian life can be daunting for new veterans. In an effort to provide support with this change, the City of Jacksonville Military Affairs and Veterans Department, in coordination with the Jacksonville Military Veterans Coalition, will host its free monthly career and employment counseling seminar for veterans, transitioning military members, National Guard and Reserve members and their family member. Persons can receive career counseling, tips on writing a resume, interview preparation tips, translation of military skills to civilian jobs, and overall assistance in preparing for a successful postmilitary career. This event is supported by Hero 2 Hired, a Department of Defense employment initiative. The City of Jacksonville Military Affairs and Veterans Department and the Jacksonville Military Veterans Coalition are dedicated to helping veterans and transitioning military members connect with veteran-strong local employers.
