Jacksonville to Honor Fallen Heroes with Virtual Tribute

May 28, 2021
On Monday, May 31, the City of Jacksonville will host a virtual Memorial Day Observance, to honor the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who lost their lives in service to our country.
The digital observance will be posted to the City of Jacksonville YouTube Channel and social media platforms at 8 a.m. The video will contain remarks from Mayor Lenny Curry, military leadership, musical selections from the Voices of Jacksonville, the Touring Choir of the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus, Jacksonville Pipes & Drums, and more.

Filming took place at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Wall, a 65-foot long, black, granite monument that stands behind a torch with an eternal flame. It is the second largest memorial wall in the nation and the only wall to honor all six military branches. This year, two servicemen, Quinton Jones, U.S. Army, and Jason Recker, U.S. Navy, will be added to the 1,700 names of Jacksonville area American heroes.
