"I am so excited to welcome City Refrigeration to Jacksonville," said Mayor Lenny Curry. "We are committed to increasing economic development opportunities and strengthening Jacksonville’s global presence. By continuing our great partnerships with the JAX Chamber and our local business community, we will build on this momentum."
City Refrigeration will bring more than 100 jobs to the city, at an average wage of $67,000. The move will include a Qualified Target Industry (QTI) grant up to $3,000 per new, full-time job created, up to a maximum of $153,000, 80 percent of which will be covered by the State and 20 percent by the City. Additional incentives include a REV grant of 50 percent on purchases of tangible personal property for 10 years, not to exceed $200,000.
“We are excited to be here in Jacksonville,” said Gerry Phimister, chief executive officer for City Refrigeration. “The City worked hard, and was truly genuine in their desire to have us here. This is the right place for us to be, and people should be proud of their city leadership. We want to launch our operations in the U.S., utilizing the knowledge and skills of existing employees and local talent. In keeping with our company ethos, we will provide training and new opportunities to help develop our associates with greater skills for their personal development.”
A Jacksonville delegation, including Mayor Curry, City Council President Greg Anderson and leaders from the business community, traveled to London late last year – the third trip in conjunction with a Jacksonville Jaguars game. The delegation met with several companies including City Facilities Management (FL) LLC, the parent company to City Refrigeration.
"This is another prime example of how our elected officials and business leaders are leveraging international opportunities that have opened up with the Jaguars annual trip to London,” JAX Chamber Chair Audrey Moran said. “City Refrigeration is a tremendous addition to our local economy. The company could have chosen any city to make its entry into the United States and open its North American headquarters, and we are honored City Refrigeration executives chose Jacksonville.”
